The vehicle carrying the commander of the Malaysia Control and Border Protection Agency in Bukit Kayu Hitam, Nasaruddin Nasir, was fired upon at dawn near the Malaysian-Thai border today.

Kedah Police chief Adzli Abu Shah said the commander escaped unharmed in the attack, which occurred at about 5.40am, roughly 1km from the frontier.
